The work we do

We provide qualified counselling services delivered in a range of disciplines including: Humanistic, Integrative, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy and Person Centered counselling. DAPL provide counselling and support services to children and young people who are experiencing emotional distress or affected by drug or alcohol use within Fife schools.

We also provide counselling services to adults affected by their own drug and or alcohol use. This work is delivered in locations across the whole of Fife. Our services are confidential, trauma informed and client centered. Our counselling services are accredited by the British  Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Young people counselling

DAPL delivers counselling for young people at school aged 10 and above, who are experiencing emotional distress. Most of our sessions are provided in school.

Adult counselling

DAPL's adult and recovery services uses counselling processes to support clients work through challenges that impact on their using substances to cope. This can be traumatic experiences in their past or current pressures.

Adult recovery

Adults experiencing substance use issues can access DAPL's dedicated Recovery Worker team who offer support and help individuals as they decide the route of their recovery and also where to go next once the counselling journey has has achived its purpose.

Work with us

Since DAPL started back in 1994, hundreds of individuals have given of their time to help the organisation meet its objectives. Indeed many of our volunteers have gone on to become members of the DAPL staff team or work for other similar agencies and services in the field.

Qualified counsellors

Fully qualified counsellors are welcome to apply as volunteers. DAPL are an experienced team at the forefront of developing therapeutic services.

Student counsellors

We offer student placements to individuals training to be a counsellor/art therapist, a limited number of placements are available.

Recovery volunteers

For those who wish to volunteer; however aren't counsellors, there is the option to become a Recovery volunteer where you can get involved in the delivery of group work & DAPL's client consultation process.
